DAY 1-2

Kochin

BRUNTON BOATYARD

Arriving in Cochin, the city has historically been the center of the Indian spice trade, attracting Portuguese, Dutch and English traders, leaving the city's old fort. In the heart of it all, then take an immersive walking tour with a private guide to see the old Dutch mansion, Chinese fishing nets, Mattancherry Palace and the printed market place in Jewish Town.

DAY 3-4

Munnar

WINDERMERE ESTATE

Continue your Kerala vacation with a drive to the Western Ghats and Munnar tea district, which is less than two hours' drive away. These are some of the highest tea plantations in the world and offer stunning views (weather permitting). The next day, walk the field and visit the local tea factory. For the more active we can arrange a longer excursion, such as a 5-hour hike through the valley. We always adjust the sun according to how much you want your legs!

DAY 5-6

PERIYAR

AANAVILASAM LUXURY PLANTATION HOUSE

Travel for around four hours south along the spine of the Western Ghats to Thekkady, which is near to Periyar National Park. This again enables you to take in the pure mountain air, and the following day, you may explore the park by going on a very fascinating morning nature walk. Although a wild elephant may appear, Periyar is all about variety, so you should also expect to encounter monkeys, a wide range of birds, and other small creatures.

DAY 7-8

LAKE VEMBANED

PURITY

It's a four-hour drive to get through the mountains and back to the shores of Lake Vembaned. On day two, head out for a community experience (for many, the highlight of a Kerala vacation) where you begin by exploring the backwater canals around Purin Kunu by boat. Next, you will arrive at a local home where the host will cook special dishes such as meeputu or appam, served with some chicken or duck curry on banana leaves. He will teach you how to use different masala using the materials from his garden. After lunch, walk to the coconut field to see the art of tattooing toddy high in the coconut trees.

DAY 9

BACKWATERS

HOUSEBOARD

Drive the short distance to Alleppey, just 30 minutes way, and take a private air-conditioned houseboat out on the backwaters. Your boat will be fully staffed with a cook who will serve up the freshest of fish curries as you sip a glass of wine, just watching the world go by. You’ll moor up at night in a remote location, just feeling totally away from it all.

DAY 10-12

MARARI

MARARI BEACH RESORT

The Marari beaches are only a 45-minute drive from your houseboat, and you'll complete your trip to Kerala by spending three days relaxing with your feet up close to a palm-fringed beach and overlooking the Indian Ocean.

DAY 13

COCHIN AIRPORT

FLY HOME

Say your final farewells to India with a two-hour trip to Cochin Airport. You may, of course, extend the duration of your stay in India by flying to Delhi and exploring the Golden Triangle, or by flying to the Maldives for extra beach time.
